Nike On Air is an annual competition by the Swoosh brand that invites independent designers from around the world to bring their unique interpretations to iconic Nike designs. Artist Yuta Takuman draws inspiration from his hometown to create the Nike Air Max 1 Tokyo Maze.

Tokyo, a city known for its bustling population and intricate network of underground lines, serves as the muse for this version of the Air Max 1. The silhouette features a captivating two-tone black and white upper, where straight lines converge to form a maze-like pattern. The design symbolizes the labyrinthine nature of the city. The two feet of the pair mirror each other, representing two complementary aspects of the same concept.

The Nike Air Max 1 Tokyo Maze is adorned with a special "Nike Tokyo" tag on the tongue and is accompanied by multi-colored laces, adding a vibrant touch. The shoe is anchored by a red Air sole, which adds a striking contrast to the overall design.
